The CTI TESOL Fundamentals course is a comprehensive program that gives our graduates all of necessary skills and techniques to enter a classroom and be able to teach students of different age levels and English proficiency to anybody in the world.

Our course aims to develop the skills and personality of motivated individuals wanting to enter the rewarding profession of teaching English. This course is intended for all enthusiastic individuals, with strong skills in English and a desire for an exciting and rewarding career.

The following is a brief syllabus of what will be covered in the CTI Fundamentals course:
   
  Introduction to TESOL
An overview and introduction the English Language, the ESL (English as Second Language) Industry including some of the most common acronyms and what they can expect when teaching.
   
  Teacher Demeanor & Appearance
Learn how to conduct yourself in the classroom. Be able to present yourself in the classroom and maximize some nonverbal communication skills such as body language and eye contact
   
  Classroom Management
Many of the essential skills needed to run a classroom will be covered in this section. Some of the most important topics out of the many that will be discussed will be creating and sustaining motivation. You will also learn how to control the classroom through the proper use of discipline..
   
  Lesson Planning
In this section students will learn the best ways to create, write, adapt and plan a lesson. You will learn how to execute and pace your lesson plans with the most effective methods. This section will conclude with techniques on assigning homework.
   
  Teaching Kids, Adults and Everything in Between
Learn the major differences and characteristics of each age group and how to teach them most effectively. Also learn how to teach to different students with different competencies of the English language.
   
  Teaching Listening
Students will learn strategies on how to teach their students to listen properly and give them ideas on how to teach some of the more difficult parts of English speech.
   
  Teaching Speaking
During the speaking section students will learn how to teach their students essential speaking skills. They will further learn on how to teach slang and idioms to their students along with many other strategies.
   
  Teaching Reading
In this section students will learn how to teach students reading and skills that will help them improve their abilities.
   
  Teaching Writing
Students will learn writing strategies and how to teach them to their students. They will learn about some of the common mistakes found in writing and differences in American, Canadian and British writing systems.
   
  Using Video and Music in the Classroom
During this section students will learn how to make use of multimedia in the classroom to make their classes entertaining and interesting, while keeping them educational.
   
  Teaching Vocabulary & Pronunciation
Students will learn the best methods to teach vocabulary & proper pronunciation to their students. Learn how sounds are made in the English Language & how to teach this to their students along with methods for learning and retaining vocabulary.
   
  Teaching Grammar
Students will learn all the latest and best methods to teach this notoriously difficult subject to their students. They will also be taught the basics of English grammar so they won’t be caught off guard with difficult questions.
   
  Your Future as an ESL Teacher
In this final section students will learn how to chart their progress and evaluate their strengths and short comings. They will also learn how to continue to grow as teachers and take their learning into their own hands .

At the end of the course, all participants will have all the skills they need to enter the classroom and teach quality ESL lessons with confidence. They will also have the ability to:
  1. Know the various approaches to teach lessons.
  2. Motivate and inspire their students
  3. Be able to teach various age groups across different levels with confidence
  4. Have skills needed to take learning into their own hands and continue to grow and evolve throughout their teaching career.
